53rd GRAMMY AWARDS / 2011

Yak saia telat, hehehe. Padahal blum seminggu perayaannya tapi udah berasa gw basi banget membahas perhelatan anugerah musik Grammy Awards ke-53 ini =). Yasudahlah, sebagaimana dua tahun terakhir gw akan tetap kasih komentar sedikit2 tentang acara penghargaan yang (katanya) paling bergengsi di dunia ini.

Bullet Train Explosion / Shinkansen Daibakuha – 新幹線大爆破 (2025)

Gesang – Kuwariskan… Sebelum Aku Mati

Lai Zhan – 来战 (2026)

Overall pergelaran Grammy kali ini yang konsepnya kurang lebih serupa dengan tahun2 sebelumnya, menurut gw relatif lebih meriah daripada tahun lalu dengan penampil2 yang oke2, bukan karena emang terkenal trus gw bilang oke—jiah gw aja kayaknya cuma tau seiprit dari artis2 yang tampil, cuman penampilan mereka memang memancarkan hasrat dan energi serta menunjukkan kapasitas mereka sebagai artis yang layak tampil di panggung yang ditonton pelaku dan pecinta musik di serluruh dunia *yaaolooh bahasa gw*. Penampilan pembuka dari Christina Aguilera, Martina McBride, Jennifer Hudson, Florence Welch vokalisnya Florence+The Machine, dan Yolanda Adams yang menyanyikan lagu2 dari Ratu Soul, Aretha Franklin, like wow…pada lomba tereak2 dah tuch ^_^;. Tapi gw salut pada konsepnya menyatukan vokalis pop, country, R&B, rock dan gospel bersama-sama, cool.

2 performance lain yang gw pikir keren bueratz adalah marathon B.o.B, Bruno Mars, dan Janelle Monae yang dimulai dengan anggun dan ditutup dengan seru sekali, dan juga marathon artis2 folk Mumford & Sons, The Avett Brothers, dan mereka lalu berbaris rapih dengan instrumen masing2 mengiringi sang legenda folk rock Bob Dylan…itu baru musik! Kolaborasi unik Cee Lo Green dan Gwyneth Paltrow (God she really can sing) dengan boneka2 ala Muppet yang sangat berwarna juga jadi highlight tersendiri, pun penampilan singkat dan simpel Norah Jones, Keith Urban dan John Mayer menyanyikan hit dari legenda country ber….bakat besar, Dolly Parton “Jolene” sangat berkesan buat gw. Keren lah. Selain itu, ada Muse dengan permainan teater+visual di layar pixel yang bagus (seting paling bagus mnurut gw di Grammy kali ini), Lady Gaga dengan lagu baru dan “tanduk” di pundaknya, Eminem+Rihanna+Adam Levine (Maroon 5)+Skylar Grey+Dr. Dre yang emosional dan Lady Antebellum juga oke. Enak juga nonton acaranya kali ini =).

Gw gak bisa komentar banyak soal pemenangnya, paling taunya Lady Gaga sama Bruno Mars di bidang pop. Lady Antebellum pastilah yg paling sumringah malam itu karena menang 5 piala, tak hanya di bidang country, tapi juga 2 penghargaan bergengsi serupa tapi tak sama di Song of The Year dan Record of The Year untuk lagu “Need You Now”. Di luar itu, masih di kategori “general” *tak tergantung jenis musik* kejutan terjadi pada Album of The Year yang diperoleh band rock-alternative Kanada, Arcade Fire lewat album The Suburbs (dari penampilan mereka di Grammy ini di akhir acara, 2 lagu, tampaknya saya kurang cocok dengan musik mereka, so far), dan kejutan tapi tidak mengagetkan adalah Best New Artist yg dimenangkan vokalis+bassis jazz Esperanza Spalding, yang unggul atas artis2 lainnya yg relatif lebih populer, terutama si -ehem- Justin Bieber -ehem-. Yasudahlah, biar pada melek bahwa belasan ribu anggota yayasan yg memilih pemenang Grammy tidak silau popularitas dan punya kuping yang tidak terbatas wawasannya, yeah! Dan sebagai pemerhati J-Pop, gw pun harus memberi selamat kepada Tak Matsumoto, yang lebih dikenal sebagai gitaris (like one of the best out there ^o^) dari band pop-rock legendaris Jepang, B’z, yang menang Grammy atas kerjasamanya dengan gitaris kawakan Amerika, Larry Carlton lewat album Take Your Pick, yang memperoleh penghargaan Best Pop Instrumental Album. Omedetou gozaimasu =).
