“Unfortunately”, this official band consist of students of UTP. Unfortunate since there is no need for TWO official bands of UTP. Meaning that, if there is an “urge” to play in a band by some of the staffs, it will remain as unofficial.
The problem with unofficial band is that, since it is unofficial and most of the staffs playing take it as a leisurely activity, the band doesn’t run as a proper band.
Well, I was asked to join the band. The problem is, when I play, I play hard. I am serious. When I play a song, I want it to be a complete song. It doesn’t have to be 100% correct but I need to know that all the other guys have the same urge to be serious.
Hence my thinking of making this (staff) band as an official band of UTP. When it is official, we will have to play in some of the UTP functions. When that happens, it is no more a laughing matter.
Yes, playing in a band should not be an office work. Just like playing badminton. You don’t want to play badminton but at the same time being laughed at, right? Same here.
